It has been too long since my last post, hasn't it? Well, I have had a few interesting experiences since then, and I hope that I don't let y'all down. Wednesday night Batri and I went to the CPOLink for their BACHanaliaLink concert. I won tickets through work (which remains as 'rewarding' as ever). It was a wonderful presentation on the Goldberg variation of some of Bach's best works. It was kind of a 'Best-of' event. The music was fantastic, the seats were very good, but there was one thing that made me sad : the hall was almost half empty. It always pains me to see a concert hall, one featuring a philharmonic, at anything less than capacity. But the best part of the evening, in my mind, was the pimp getting beaten by his ho. Allow me to elaborate. I went to the Hop in Brew PubLink for some quality beer (Industrial Pale Ale is sooooooo gooooood) and food pre-concert. Batri later joined me. The 'Brew is a great place situated in a not-so-great neighborhood. The kind of 'hood with pimps, hos, and ghanstahs. As we were leaving, there was a gigantic looking pimp, all dressed in khaki, from hat to boots. And there was this little 100-pound woman bouncing around like a spider monkey. Then, just as we alongside the pimp, she ran up with a golf umbrella and bitch-smacked him. On the head. We had to resist the urge to laugh because the urge to live was so much stronger, but as soon as we were out of the way, and content that Batri wouldn't have to unleash NinjaBatri on them, we were doubled over so hard I thought I was going to lose control of at least two bodily functions. I have of course heard of bitchslapping, but I have never witnessed a bitchSMACK! before. So that was Wednesday night. Last night was Serenity. Oh. My. God. I am going to see this movie many, many times. Hopefully not from as close as we were last night (motion sickness again!) but what a great movie. I'm not going to spoil anything by talking about it, because then you won't go see the movie. Suffice it to say that I showed up in costume (wasn't alone, either) and had a great night. Seriously, for anyone who is a sci-fi fan, who a western fan, or a war movie fan, or an action movie fan, please, go see the film. You won't be disappointed, I promise. If you need/want to know more about the show, go talk to the BrowncoatsLink (Firefly fans...think Trekkies). Keep it shiny.
